Anne I love your blog, When do you sleep?
The 24"x36" portraits look fine and normal.
It's wonderful to see the wide variety of styles and positions and things to sit on in all the samples you display.
People are so much fun to look at when captured forever in one moment.
Makes me want to start painting portraits!, Ann

Dear Anne

I was delighted to hear from you and very happy that you have chosen to use my painting on your blog. I agree that placement is a fascinating consideration and have noticed that empty central space with pictorial elements occuring on the perifiry seems a particularly tricky balance for people to adjust to. We have such strong conditioning to read the content of an image, I would hazard the option that this comes before viewing visual dynamics yet composition is central to the timbre of a portrait. By the way, I shall send you a higher resolution image and hope that we correspond more.

Kind regards
Marilyn Bailey

I enjoyed reading your blog, Anne - very well written and thought-out.

And, of course you are welcome to include the portraits that you mentioned in your email.

Cheers,
